COLUMBUS BASE MEETING MINUTES 6 August 2016
Call to Order:
1300 – Commander, Tim Barker called the meeting to order. Commander, Tim Barker led in the salute to the flag. Chaplain Walt Fleak gave the invocation. Tolling of the lost boats was conducted by Chaplain Walt Fleak and Commander, Tim Barker. Welcome to all by Base Commander. There were 18 members and guests present.
July 2016 meeting minutes are posted on the web site. There were no changes.
Correspondence – A Thank You Card from the Milford Church of Christ thanking the base for the use of the sub float during their vacation bible school.
Jim Koogler reported on the status of the Treasury through the end of July 2016.
Bill Anderson’s mother-in-law (Jayne’s mother) passed away at the age of 96. No update on Chaplain Sharon Lloyd who fell and hurt her knee.

July 30 – (Saturday) Cod Base Visit and Picnic with Cod, Cincy, Toledo and Requin bases and Piper reunion.
August 15-20 – USSVI National Convention, Reno, NV (Galin and George attending)

Columbus Base Submarine Museum
Discussing with Razorback in Little Rock, Silversides in Muskegon, MI and Warren Mott in Groveport. Little Rock and Silversides has said that if they take the items then they would be considered theirs. Also Little Rock wants the items inventoried. Mott would be local and does have the space for the items. He also has mentioned that he would like to have a torpedo to display.
Cod base is trying to reach consensus on what they want to do. They have limited space and may not be able to take all of the items.

Submarine float painting project – Rick has invited paint shop to picnic and present ball caps and plaques and will check with Frank that they have been ordered
Permanent storage discussion for boat, flags, battery, etc. Dave Creekmore has agreed to store the boat at his place during the summer. Dave’s neighbor is able to store the boat at his place during the winter for a price to be agreed upon later. The museum at Dave’s is currently closed.
Report on COD picnic – Fun time for all. The engines were started and they had a Holland Club ceremony.

There will be a playground for the kids at the picnic on September 10th
Rick would like to have the boat at the picnic and also requested that if someone has a 10 X 10 pop up tent to please bring it.
George Petershagen thanked the base for their thoughts and prayers during his hospital stay. Felt very blessed to be at the meeting.

50/50 drawing. Since no camera was available there will be no pictures. Tim won the 50/50 (really he did).
