Call to Order:
1300 – Commander, Tim Barker called the meeting to order.
COB John L. Bethea led in the salute to the flag.
Chaplain Walt Fleak gave the invocation.
Tolling of the lost boats was conducted by Chaplain Sharon Lloyd and COB John L. Bethea.
Welcome to all by Base Commander. There were 20 members and guests present.
January 2017 meeting minutes are posted on the web site. There were no changes.
Correspondence – none.
Jim Koogler reported on the status of the Treasury accounts through the end of January 2017.
Cliff is working on the Sailing list.
Denver Smith Eternal Patrol, January 15, 2017. Sharon looking to send a card but needs an address.
Ken Sewell reported he hurt his back. Card was passed around to send to Ken.
It was reported that Dave O’Carroll is dealing with the flu.
Jon Barker, Tim’s brother, had a procedure called TAVR (Transcatheter Aortic Valve Replacement) which is a non-invasive procedure.
No new members or guests were in attendance.
Base lost 4 members for not paying dues.
Galen Brady met Bill Wright IC2(SS), Henry Clay (SSBN-625) (65-71). Most likely will join.
Rick Freeman would like to have a table set up at the VA this summer to stir interest in the Columbus base.
Galen in the process of talking to Mike Hogan.

April 8 - Submarine Birthday / Tolling Ceremony – VFW Hilliard (Note date change)
April/May TBD - Kap(SS) 4 Kid(SS), Bob McDaniel, Bill Anderson.
May 6 - Noon Base Meeting, American Legion Leasure-Blackston 239, 700 Morning Street, Worthington, OH 43085
May 29 (Monday) – Worthington Memorial Day parade 1000 step off.
Frank will be starting inventory of the Columbus submarine museum articles.
Cliff has a couple of boxes for the student doing community service work to inventory.
John mentioned the Cod picnic and would like to see more attending.
Don Crinkey was presented a Blue Angel Challenge coin from the Base Commander Tim Barker.

Feb 1, 2017 – (military.com) After pulling the plug on a short-lived effort to get rid of its ratings system entirely,
the Navy announced Wednesday it will add four new ratings for active-duty sailors, in an effort to channel more specialized
training and resources to key positions aboard submarines and surface ships.
The ratings include:
Yeoman submarine, abbreviated(YNS)
Logistics specialist submarine(LSS)
Culinary specialist submarines(CSS)
Fire controlman Aegis(FCA)

Clutch mentioned the NJROTC spaghetti dinner on the 19th in Grove City. Clutch will be sending out more information.
