With a heavy heart, and deep sense of shock and regret, I inform you that our Columbus Base shipmate Garry Dean Justice, 75, departed on Eternal Patrol. He was found at his residence on Tuesday morning January 28, 2025 during a police wellness check requested by the family when they were unable to contact him. From all indications, his death was the result of natural causes and occurred sometime between Thursday January 23, 2025 and Tuesday January 28, 2025

Garry Dean Justice, 75, of Columbus, Ohio passed away at his home on Tuesday, January 28th, 2025. He was born March 21, 1949, to the late James Hobert & Johnlene (Keen) Justice in Pikeville, Kentucky. Garry was a Vietnam War Veteran, having served his country in the Navy from 1968-1973. He left service as an Electrician’s Mate 2nd Class Submarine Qualified, which he earned on board the USS Nathanael Green. He was married to Ruby Justice for 32 years before her death in 2010. He was also preceded in death by a daughter, Linda Barnett, sister, Shirley Cantrell and brother-in-law James Cantrell Jr. Surviving is a brother, Ronnie Justice, son-in-law Bruce Barnett, granddaughters Jeana (Kris) Froehlich and Jennifer (Johnny) Poe, nieces, nephews and great-grandkids. Garry enjoyed spending time with his Veteran family at Columbus Base and was inducted into the Holland Club in 2023. He also enjoyed spending time with family, going to the casino or local arts events and learning about history. Friends may call at the NEWCOMER SOUTHWEST CHAPEL 3393 Broadway, Grove City, Ohio 43123 on Thursday, February 6, 2025 from 11:00am until time of funeral service at 1:00pm. Interment to follow at Grove City Cemetery.
